Metal Thieves

Yesterday night as I just hit the highway for Shah Alam after my cell meeting my gf called on my phone sounded rather frantic.

"Ah Dear!! I just went passed the church and someone turned on the water tap and now the water overflowing all over the place!!"

Oh great. Someone must have forgotten to off the tap in the toilet and it floods the pantry. Now I have to turn back to off the tap.

"Is it the toilet flooded badly?" I asked for confirmation.

"No, it's the fire hydrant in front of the church. Someone must have stolen it's steel cap and now the water is gushing out non-stop" she explained patiently. "What should I do now? Should I call Pastor? ".

My tired mind trying to look for a solution. No, waiting till daybreak is not a solution. A few hundred of gallons of water would have gone to waste by then. It's already 10 p.m. and the water dept would have closed it's telephone hot line.

" Call the Fire Brigade. Tell them what you saw. They should know what to do" I said.

My GF called the Fire Brigade. They came and quickly turn off the hydrant before more water gone to waste. It turned out that nothing was stolen. The firemen concluded that the thief was trying to steal it tap head itself and not the it cap. So in the midst of loosing the tap the water gushes out. Afraid of being noticed with a opened hydrant the thief quickly left.

I would like to commend that the Fire Dept of Seremban for their quick response. Everything was solved within half an hour. They could have done it in a shorter time if not for the telephone operator mistaken the location "Starlight Park" for "Starlight Pub". That sent those firemen looking for it in the town area for "Starlight Pub".

As for me, I reached Shah Alam as scheduled. Reached home about 1 a.m. and now felt like a zombie at work. Duh.

OH MY GOSH! and you took pictures too! Quick thinking Kok hon! Fire Dept. was an excellent thought. Calling the Pastor could not stop the water unless he came with a big wrench and a whole lot of praying. Wasted water is a no-no here too and could cause flood damage.

You are a hero!! *clap clap clap*
