On Sunday night we were having a drama practice at our church for our upcoming Christmas program with the kids. As I'm the so called director of the play, I have to select a few most talented ones from the bunch for the main roles. In order to do that they have to go through an 'audition' which were last-minute planned by me.
The audition basically goes like this. Each girl has to pair up with a boy. Then they have to recite a four liners script. They have to act along while reciting their line and we will judge their acting. The script basically goes like this.
Boy : Where are you going during Christmas day?
Girl: I'm going back to my kampung (village).
Boy: Can I follow you then?
Girl: No, you can't.
Pretty simple eh? So the kids took their turn until Lena, a adorable and intelligent 6-year-old girl took the stage with her partner Yohanes, a 9-year-old boy. They added a little extra to the script I have given to them. Here is what happened.
Yohanes: Where are you going on Christmas day?
Lena: I'm going back to my kampung.
Yohanes: Can I follow you along?
Lena: No, you can't.
Yohanes: Why?
Lena: (without hesitation she blurted out) Because you are NOT MY BOYFRIEND.
All the adults in the room burst out in hilarious laughter.

HA! NOW *that's* a daughter that was raised properly!
I think sometimes we get carried away laughing at kids, we forget we were once kids.
These kid didn't follow the norm and for all you know, to them, it might have been a good idea, and being laughed at can hurt their feelings and self esteem.
Kids are adorable , aren't they? My 9 year old son has provided me lots of laughs..
