My First Time

I've been tagged by Jonzz..and man...that's a hard tag. It kept me thinking for few days of what to write of my first time. Since I think I got a lot of 'first time' enough for me to make a grandfather story for whole week long, I think I'll just mention briefly my experience in Cambodia.

Well, it was my FIRST backpacking trip and my FIRST trip to visit three countries at one go. I visited Thailand, Cambodia & VIetnam within 2 weeks via land travel. Being my FIRST budget trip also exposes me to a world full of human trade. My friend and I were basically offered 'special massages' everywhere we go.

But the most memorable I did there was my FIRST exotic insect snack. Deep fried Tarantula spiders! It was one of the bus stop in Cambodia while we were taveling from Siem Reap (Angkor Wat) to Phnom Penh I saw a few ladies carrying these trays of spiders. I didn't know what were those spiders then, but I took it anyway for 50 cents. (Later I found out it was tarantulas from Ripley's Believe it or Not TV show).

How was the taste? Yummy. It was covered in salt first before deep frying it. The legs are crunchy and the abdomen are meaty. The taste? The legs are tasted like beef jerky while the abdomen, looked like prawn meat but tasted like crabs. Wonderful! Grab and taste one if you see one of those in Cambodia.

OH MY GAWD!

*shock*

I'm like, speechless.

Like EEEEEWWWWWWWWWWWW

I'm getting the creepy crawlies all over and goosebumps too.

you DID NOT eat one of those, did you?

I'm fainting.

I can't imagine. I don't like spiders AT ALL - I wouldn't have believed you if you didn't have a picture.

You are I.N.S.A.N.E.

Jonzz: I am a spiderman already...every morning on my bed.

Annie: Yes, I did munch one down with all these Germans and Americans gawking at me with a look of disbelief. Well at least the Japs were bold enough to try one.

Poohbearee: Yes..its fun.And you should try one of those tarantulas...
