I don't know why Seremban are famous for it's roasted crabs (siew hai). Being a seremban boy for so long I hardly eat some of the restaurant that was famous for it's crab. So last Sunday I took the oppotunity to bring my future in law's family out for a dinner to celebrate my future father-in-law birthday. They saw one of the restaurant featured in Astro so we decided to take a taste. The restaurant is called Sun Yit Sing and it's located opposite Era Baru Complexes.
We reached there at 6.30 p.m. and all the tables were already full. The restaurant were well staffed and we were attended to quickly when we need anything throughout the dinner. I would suggest that you come much earlier as by 7 p.m. people have to stand and wait for other's to leave just to get seated. We quickly ordered and food in served in 40mins time.
Here;s what we odered. Sorry the pics are abit blur. Picture taken with my newly bought Palm Zire 72. And I only remembered to take the photo's after we gasak the food. Hehehe.
DEEP FRIED PIG'S LEG -RM32
The leg's is deep fried till it's skin is crispy and it's flesh is tender. Some people might like this dish but personally I think this dish is way too fatty for my cholesterol reading.
STEAMED FISH (Sek Pan Yue) -RM32
This fish is fresh and tasty. However the sauce taste is not up to my taste. But for the freshness of the fish served here I give 7 marks out of 10.
FISH HEAD NOODLE -RM16
It's seem like this is the dish that makes this restaurant so famous in the first place. It's basicly soup (I think it's boiled with fish head), deep fried fish and noodle. The taste? Rather bland. I would prefer to eat Maggie mee anytime to this.
SIEW HAI WITH MARMITE (2Kg) -RM86
We have come to the main dish of the day. Crab! The crab were huge compared to other places that I've been. Initially the crab tasted really good but by the 3rd peice of crab in your mouth, I find the taste is actually rather so-so. Could be we were hungry for crab at the first peice. It's not the freshest crab, I've tasted nicer crabs in Subang Jaya.
Conclusion- The verdict? While I loved the crab sizes served and the speedy service given even it's crowded to the max, I find the prices were kinda pricey for the overall dinner. Would I come back again? I will only come back when I got outstation guest requesting to eat here. But if you really loved crabs, this restaurant is worth a try for you.
